CASE STUDY

A consultancy firm is taking a 15 year lease on two floors of a newly developed office building. They acquire the building with open plan floor plates with suspended ceilings, lighting and air-conditioning. A contractor is appointed to design and install the fit out which includes partitioning (some demountable), kitchen facilities, signage, a storage wall system, IT installation, alterations to the air conditioning and new furniture. The works cost £1 million.

Plant and machinery allowances are valued at £600,000 which gives a first year allowance of £150,000. With early input the relevant supporting documentation to support the claim for demountable partitioning could be efficiently collected and retained.
